This work is a small preparatory study made before beginning the final version. It came out of the Else series. I was experimenting with thinly applied opaque colours rather than the overpainting method. This work is painted on hand cut marine plywood- its a bit wonky and this adds a nice tension to the geometric shapes painted on the board. I love the way you can see the texture of the woodgrain on the painted surface.
